Well clearly EndorphinGirl™ doesn’t have the impact that Ellen has when she asks for a “caption”. Only one response. Thank you EndorphinGirl™’s mom! But one caption, really? Okay enough.
The caption perhaps fits all of our inner EndorphinGirl® selves:
Caption by EndorphinGirl™’s Mamma!
- Runner's High - Endorphins !!!!
- Valley Low - No Endorphins
- Super Girl - Some Endorphins
- Super Hero - EndorphinGirl™ !!!!!
Okay for those who didn’t get a chance to respond to the ‘caption this’ request (opportunity?), be on the lookout for another chance.
On to another topic, EndorphinGirl™ blogging has not been as prolific as she has hoped for these past weeks! She is trying. Okay so this blog is about ‘the climb’. Partially inspired by the ‘valley low’ piece about – you’ll get the connection by the end of the blog, hopefully!
Now the climb can mean a number of things. In this case she
will confess it partly relates to a Miley song. Yes a Miley song called The Climb. Have a listen. It’s a good one and part of Miley’s more innocent work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG2zyeVRcbs
Isn’t it often the case with anything you do. The goal is important of course but the steps (i.e., the climb) to get to the goal are equally if not more important. EndorphinGirl™ is reminded about ‘the climb’ involved in getting ready for the half marathon last May. All the steps (no pun intended) that happened to get to the next level of running in order to finally do the marathon. One particular milestone she recalls was the 7 miles on the treadmill experience. That was quite a climb indeed. Of course completing the half-marathon was awesome, but all it took to get there was equally as awesome!
EndorphinGirl™ recalls also an actual mountain climb she may have referenced in past blogs. The climb training up to the actual climb included 6 months of a variety of endorphin enhancing exercise such as running, and stair mastering, among other enhancers. As exciting as those activities were, the actual climb was exhilarating for so many reasons. It was literally a one-step-at-a-time conquer that got her to the top. The challenge was equally mentally challenging as well as physically challenging. One-step-at-a-time, all 14,410 of them! And once on top of that inactive volcano . . . well blog words don’t give it justice!
Of course while it is all about the climb, sometimes a landslide
appears which isn’t always a negative. Have a listen to Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3cGxlZjMWU . Yeah, the song is pretty powerful. Funny enough as EndorphinGirl™ was climbing her mountain (well not really her mountain, she doesn’t own it or anything but
she did summit it, just sayin) anyway as she was climbing to the base camp (pre-summit) she was listening to her iPod. (Yes that was just a run-on sentence!) During that pre-climb she
was asked by the RMI guide she climbed with what she was listening to on her iPod. At that precise moment it was of course
Landslide. What a chuckle they had, which was not a chuckle repeated during the descent of their climb when they needed to go super-fast to avoid any real landslides. NO joke! Those real
life landslides were echoing in the mountain on their descent. NO joke! Let’s just say this is not the landslide EndorphinGirl™ wants anyway to experience! :)
Aside from the other climbs you are enjoying in your life, if you are looking for an awesome endorphin-intense climb check out the RMI website http://www.rmiguides.com/ where you can find a great climb program and guide(s). Every time EndorphinGirl™ looks at the RMI site she is almost compelled to sign up for something. The pictures of the mountains take her breath away and the climb offerings are uber exciting to read about! She does think another summit-climb is in her future, perhaps!
Climbs and landslides and all of that sure can take on cool meanings. Don’t you think? And sticking with this climb theme EndorphinGirl™ will leave you with one final song. Simply remember that ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz-UvQYAmbg – with singing by Tammi and Marvin! Keep on climbin’!
On that happy note, this week’s EndorphinGirl™ image is courtesy of EndorphinGirl™’s son. It is not with the theme of mountains, rather simply a nice happy EndorphinGirl™ Fall image!
Until next time guest comments always welcome in guestbook and keep on endorphin’.
