EndorphinGirl™ and EndorphinSon™ kicked off the Hanukah season by doing the Festival of Lights Run this past Sunday in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  The run choice options included either a 5K or a half-marathon.

EndorphinGirl™ opted for the 5K, she convinced herself to do only the 5K because that same evening she was leaving for a week-long work trip and she did not want to overdo it.  She wanted to be rested!  As she blogs these sentences into print, she realizes that she essentially ‘put herself in the box’.  More specifically she held herself so-called ‘hostage’ to completing the half by justifying that she had a long flight that evening and needed to be rested.  In hindsight she could have done the half.  In hindsight she should have done the half.  No more boxes for her.

On the other hand.  EndorphinSon™ did not go anywhere near the box.  He prepared for the half marathon and he did the half marathon.  In fact, he not only ran the half-marathon, he placed 8th overall and first in his age group. His mile pace was 6.41.  Impressive.  Impressive.

While on the other, other hand, it turns out that EndorphinGirl™, despite doing the shorter run, and placing herself in the box, did pretty well herself.  She placed 59th overall (out of 200), 26th overall in the female category (out of 146 females) and 2nd in her age group.  Okay, maybe it was 2nd out of 13, but dang she still PRd and run a 9.04 mile.  She is pumped.  She is motivated.  She is ready for the next run.

Meanwhile in another part of the country, EndorphinDaughter™ keeps doing a great job running and keeping the #runtheedge team in good shape to ensure that they finish their goal of running 2,015 miles in 2015.  They have less than 200 miles to run by the end of the year.  Aha, they are more than 90% complete.  They got this!

Moving right along.  It is that time of year again for EndorphinGirl™ to decide what the next year’s annual challenge is going to be.  EndorphinSon™ is thinking about committing to running a half-marathon a month.  EndorphinGirl™ does think that is a fantastic idea and is considering something similar.  In particular, she thinks she may commit to a run-a-month, which is at a minimum a 5K (although she may decide to make it a minimum of a 10K).  So realistically this could include some half-marathons, and dare she say a full marathon? Stay tuned to see what the New Year will bring.

Hmm, given the new blog schedule that was recently implemented, the next blog will not be until the New Year.  Perhaps EndorphinGirl™ will need to slip in a ‘special edition’ blog somewhere in between so there is one last connect before 2016.  Let’s see.  Meanwhile, she will blog off for now with an image of EndorphinGirl™, courtesy of EndorphinSonl™.

Until next time, guest comments always welcome in guestbook, and keep on endorphin'.
