Today’s blog is themed the mediation blog.  And is titled mediation moments.  It will start with a Namaste. As many bloggees know Namaste is typically said at the start and end of a Yoga class. The Namaste gesture signifies the belief of a
Divine spark within each of us located in the heart chakra which is located in the heart, upper and lower back 'vicinty'.  It literally means “I bow to you”.  By bringing the  hands together at the heart it increases the flow of Divine love. Bowing the head and closing the eyes is surrender to the Divine in the heart (vicinity).  Namaste in and of itself feels like a mediation.  Doesn't it!

Tonight it will be said at the start and end of the mediation blog.

NAMASTE!

Now what is a mediation blog.  It’s simply this blog which is dedicated to taking a brief step back from everything, including endorphin-enhancing.  Whether it is for a few minutes or many minutes, the idea is to find mediation in whatever form that works for you.  Pure and simple it is to find your mediation moments!  There are some general tips that work for EndorphinGirl that she will share.  The tips:

  • Pick a time that will allow you real time for yourself.  For EndorphinGirl it is after blogging.   For others it might be at the very start of the day, or during lunch, or at the end
of the day.  Even if it is only for 5 minutes – keep it scared time.
  • Find a quiet, uncluttered place.  Maybe it is a nice spot in your home or in a nearby park; whatever works for you.
  • Find a relaxing pose.  For instance many people like the ‘Indian cross-legged pose’.  However, EndorphinGirl has never been able to sit in this pose, so she chooses the ‘Indian cross-legged pose’ alternative which includes sitting on a yoga block.  The elevation allows her legs to bend in the right way!  And remember that posture is important.  Keep the spine straight!
  • Limit your food intake prior to your mediation moments as it may be a distractor in different ways (make you drowsy, overly full, etc.) and lead to discomfort rather than relaxation.
  • A little stretching prior helps your body’s circulation; it warms your muscles up and starts the relaxation engine!
  • Breathe, breathe, and breathe.  Some deep breaths prior to beginning your mediation moments does wonders to keep a consistent rhythm to your breathing and gets you in the ‘peaceful mode’.
  • Keep smiling, even a half-moon smile will work.  The smiling keeps you more relaxed and in the peaceful zone
  • And now begin, whether it is for 5 minutes or for 25 minutes – it  doesn’t matter.  What matters is finding the time for your mediation moments!
  • Oh and don’t forget to close your eyes during the mediation moments.
  • Then when you are ready to come out of those moments; open your eyes slowly but first remember to bow and say

NAMASTE!

Now that the mediation moments have happened for EndorphinGirl , check out what she is up too.  She just could not resist getting endorphin-charged again.  She is off parachuting; image courtesy of EndorphinGirl’s son!
