Happy New Year! A new year with new beginnings for all.

Of course for many, if not most people, the new year comes with a new 'things-to-do’ or 'things-not-to-do’ plan! As some know, EndorphinGirl has been negotiating with herself for months now about the half marathon scheduled for this May.  The negotiation has centered on a 'to-do' or 'not-to-do' the marathon.  Well there really never was a consideration 'not- to-do' it but the internal negotiation was part of the process

to get to the point of doing it.  (Did you get all of that!).

The fact of the matter is EndorphinGirl really doesn’t love running.  Well she likes it but not at marathon-like proportion levels.  Frankly she can think of so many other ways to get endorphed.  Nonetheless, the internal negotiation is done and she is now committed to the half marathon.  Today is day number 123. That is there are 123 days of endorphin-filled pain and suffering between now and May 5th.  Okay well maybe the pain and suffering part is pushing it, but . . . just saying.

By now you have gotten the idea that one goal for 2013 is to complete a half marathon in 123 days!  Just to clarify - it won't take EndorphinGirl 123 days to do it - rather in 123 days EndorphinGirl will participate in the half marathon!

If you wonder why EndorphinGirl calls it a goal instead of a resolution, well here’s why. The definition of resolution
is that it is a firm decision 'to-do' or 'not-to-do' something.  So it almost seems that by calling something a new-year resolution versus a new-year goal that internal negotiation process talked about earlier and that many experience! might turn into a justification some time in 2013 to flip flop the new year 'resolution'!  For instance, that ‘yes, I did have a resolution and it was a firm decision ‘to-do’ something might shift to the 'not-to-do' something part of the definition.  And we clearly don't want the 'not-to-do' something part to win!

EndorphinGirl is sticking with goals this year and not resolutions.  You know, a goal is the result or achievement toward which effort is directed and effort = endorphins!  Okay, just saying!

EndorphinGirl is keeping today’s blog short because she
needs to get out and run at least 2 miles on this first day of this beautiful new year!  Ready, set, go!
