Dawn of a new endorphin era. The 10K has been completed. EndorphinGirl™ and EndorphinDaughter™ have completed their first run of the ‘unofficial’ summer running season. Four more days before the summer will be official.
While EndorphinDaughter™ is training for her next full marathon, EndorphinGirl™ has fallen back in admiration with the longer runs and is strategizing about what her next longer run will be. Yes, she continues her ROCing and is up to almost 6-months completion of straight (or is that called streaking) running-one-mile-a-day. Yet, she now thinks that a longer run sprinkled into her ROC regiment every once in a while is the latest endorphin goal.
The 10K in Central Park was quite the run. Perfect running weather with a clear blue sky and manageable humidity! Perfect! EndorphinGirl™ knew there would be hills. In fact she purposely did not explore the run plan / map prior to the 10K because she didn’t really want to know how many hills would be part of the challenge. Truth be known the first hill was the steepest and the hardest, but every other hill got a little easier not harder. EndorphinGirl™ lost herself in the hills and lost track of how many of these mini hills there were. The best part of the hill running however was that she learned that she has truly enhanced her ‘run endurance’ because she WAS NOT, repeat, WAS NOT huffing and puffing on the hills. This is big endorphin news because EndorphinGirl™ does not ever remember NOT huffing and puffing on a hill run. One more reason to keep on ROCing.
Onto other news. EndorphinDaughter™ is doing some serious run training for her next full marathon, which will be the Chicago Marathon next Fall. It is probably too late for EndorphinGirl™ to even consider trying to enter the full Chicago (fshwe!) - yes it is now over-subscribed - but the gals will do some more smaller runs over the summer. EndoprhinGirl™ is looking into maybe joining the Nike Run Club again this summer!
This upcoming Saturday the Endorphin family, extended family and friends will all be in the ‘endorphin way’ as they walk in honor of Duffy (EndorphinGirl™’s Dad) at the Brain Cancer Awareness walk on Randall’s Island. Duffy, was the avid walker, and the Endorphin’s wish he would be there walking with them! A special tribute to a special man who is sorely missed.

Until next time, guest comments always welcome in guestbook and keep on endorphin.
