Ah, EndorphinGirl™ is so enthused to be part of the running society.  While she has not yet done that first-half marathon, and is still on schedule to do so in less than 3 weeks, she considers herself a runner.  And while much has changed in recent days much has also stayed the same.

Running will not go away, for EndorphinGirl™, and she suspects for her running compatriots both near and far.  And, she has given a bit of thought to running these past days.  More specifically ‘why she does it, who she does it for, and if she really likes it’?  What she has concluded:

Why she does it:  as bloggees may know she claims to have a love/hate relationship with running.  In recent days she  has come to terms with her actual ‘admiration’ for running. She does it because it is a time for her to relax, exercise, and to have both alone time (if she runs solo) and together time (if she runs with her favorite daughter or friends and sometimes even with Jack Steel :) ).  And it is also somewhat ‘spiritual’ if you will - especially while running outside.  She thinks no one can deny not only the endrophin-ness to an outside run, ah but so much more!  Seriously!

Who she does it for:  it’s become clear, she does it for herself for many of the reasons noted above.  And while she had considered being part of a charity run when she does the Long Branch half, she has decided this go, her first ‘official’ run, to do it for herself - because she can.  She can run, while many can’t.  That’s not to say that her heart won’t carry much more with her, including thoughts of Hurricane Sandy victims, Newtown Angels, Boston Spirit and ill friends.  And running alongside her will be the trio . . . Adreena, Sera, and Vita. She’s counting on them, and they are counting on her!

If she really likes it:  Yes she does, she really likes running!
Likes, likes, likes.

And while marathons as we know them may have changed forever, or at least until memories fade, running will continue.  It’s hard to find a cooler society than the running society!  The London Marathon is still on schedule for this weekend as are two New York City runs AND the Long Branch half just a few weeks.  In the words today of a clever media person (thank you Scott Pelley who may have borrowed from another?) “one memory doesn’t define us, many memories define us”.

Until next time guestcomments welcome; “stay calm and run on” and keep on endrophin’.
