EndorphinGirl™’s Friday blogging has been delayed, yes while there were a few short lines posted earlier, as bloggee might tell from reading those, her blog message may not have been clear as she was a tad tired.
The overall delay was due to a series of things that she encountered which included a busy work day, a busy evening, a busy work week, an uncooperative computer network and other things you may read about in a minute. Well you get the idea. While it is Friday’s blog, it is perhaps a day later! Better late than never!
So what’s been going on – do bloggees wonder? One very interesting endorphin activity happened this past Thursday evening during a work event. It included a lesson in curling, followed by a game of curling. You can read all about curling here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curling.
The key take aways included:
- A curlee/curler will slide, and glide on the ice, and it is not always gracefully
- Knee cushions (pads) are highly recommended
- Advanced sweeping skills are an asset
- Yoga poses come into use, so if you know particularly pigeon pose you are lucky
- You will laugh, you will laugh at self, you will laugh
- The male species really enjoys sweeping
The curling club EndorphinGirl™ attended had a beautiful outdoor ice rink and a small 4 lane curling ‘rink’ that was inside/enclosed but a bit chilly inside because of the ice. After the ‘training’ session that was given by a very experienced curler the group of ten was split in teams of 5. There was a red team and there was a blue team. EndorphinGirl™ was on the blue team. They only had 60 minutes at the curling rink. There was a reason for that to be addressed in a minute. The 60 minutes included 20 minutes of ‘training’ and 40 minutes of playing. It seems that both teams may have been interested to play more, but time ran out pretty quickly. They had a hard stop after 60 minutes because the local curling teams showed up on time for their weekly (maybe daily?) curling games. As this was a men’s only curling club there were about 20 men who then took over the four curling lanes. The blue and red teams watched from the above curling booth sipping some nice local wine! Watching the curling 'professionals' revealed some cool techniques, including one curler really demonstrating excellent sweeping skills in his own lean-in position. Men really do like sweeping. Who knew!
Oh by the way, the blue team won!
So this was a week of different endorphin. The next endorphin challenge, yes the big event that takes some ‘serious’ training has still not been confirmed for EndorphinGirl™, but there are a few ideas beginning to take form. More on that soon.
Meanwhile, an image from EndorphinGirl™’s son follows. While it is not a broom, it is along the lines of it, have a look.
Until next time guest comments always welcome in guestbook and keep on endorphin’.
