EndorphinGirl™ is quite excited this week.  Well with the Olympic Games underway how can she not be.  This is a period of time when there is a lot of endorphin going on in one place that includes so many nationalities.  Exciting!

The winter Olympics in particular is a favorite , especially since it includes curling.  She now considers herself a ‘curler’ following her brief epsisode with the sport last Fall.  You may recall she was a temporary ‘curler’ back then when she got to play with her workmates, when she was on a business trip.   She now has a completely new appreciation for the sport.  And while in some countries the sport is geared more towards the male gender, in the Olympics it has competition from both sides!  Yeah!  Check out this cool article from a ‘dude’ who agrees with EndorphinGirl™ !  http://www.sbnation.com/2014/2/11/5396896/sochi-2014-curling-rules-format-winter-olympics.  She may even have a secret endorphin Olympic curling dream.

Speaking of Olympic dreams.  If she had her ‘endorphin way’ and could really live her endorphin Olympic dream she may also consider doing so as a snowboarder.  Now she has never tried the sport and has a secret fear of speed; however, seeing the Olympic snowboarders gracefully fly through the air in such perfect acrobatic precision with a clear blue sky in the background – hmmm, this could just be the sport!  Check out some beautiful snowboarding pictures to convince yourself – http://www.olympic.org/snowboard

Ah but then there is the ice skating.  Both the speed skating and the figure skating.  Now in spite of that last comment about ‘fear of speed’,  EndorphinGirl™  certainly could see herself ‘speeding’ around the ice rink as a speed skater.  It is quite an impressive sport.  Then again she recalls daydreaming an Olympic moment as a figure skater.  She is not sure if it is the fancy skater’s outfit she has dreamt about fitting into (skating in) or the idea of doing all kinds of fancy skate tricks on the ice.  Whatever the reason, watching the skating performances this year has been exciting.  There have been more triple Lutzs and that kind of fancy skating stuff than she can ever recall seeing.  Beautiful!  Check out some news here http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2014/02/09/russia-wins-first-gold-olympics-in-team-figure-skating/

Now to be clear while the Winter Olympics are her preferred season of Olympic Sports, and she has shared some of her Olympic gold dreams – she just can’t quite understand the Luge sport.  Perhaps it has to do with the ‘speed’ thing.  She just doesn’t understand the individual desire to be a torpedo!  While she gets curling , really –she does!  She does not get Luge-ing (word?)!  No Olympian dreams here.  Well all the same - check out news about the event here - if you so desire:  http://www.olympic.org/luge

Now from an entertaining point of view, the bobsledding is clearly a fun one to watch.  While again there is no secret Olympian personal dream for a gold how can you not enjoy appreciate the countries that are basically snowless who send teams to participate in a sport that has snow-heavy requirements!  Yeah Jamaican bobsled team EndorphinGirl™  is rooting for you!  http://sports.yahoo.com/news/why-sochi-olympics-jamaican-bobsled-team-155200701.html;_ylt=AwrSyCXrC_tS3DcAUFDQtDMD

Olympic gold dream or not, EndorphinGirl™  has found it rather intriguing watching the Olympics on the telly particularly given that they are in Sochi.  She visited Sochi in 1999 when the infrastructure was $51 billion dollars less than what it is today.  It was rather beautiful then – nestled on the Black Sea.  And in fact looks much different today from what she can tell from her ‘telly’ views!  But it still looks quite beautiful, just different!

Yes – EndorphinGirl™  is mostly getting her endorphins this week vicariously through her Olympian dreaming.   But she has managed to keep up the ROC (run-one-club) running – and she is up to 73 days of running.  She has also managed to keep the AB CARVER carving everyday – but still no ‘abs of steel’.  She will keep trying.

The Olympics have interrupted reporting on SheilK’s dance update, so that will be shared next time.  She will need to leave you now with your own Olympic Gold dreams and will be back next Tuesday.

Meanwhile she leaves you with a snowy EndorphinGirl™ image – is she in Sochi? courtesy of EndorphinGirl™ ’s son. Until next time come on, give her some bloggee comments in guestbook . . . and keep on endorphin’.
