EndorphinGirl™ is finally back. Dang, it has been a long stretch without any real blogging. Indeed she has been shamefully remiss. Of course there is a reason why. Well in fact there are many reasons why. However, she won’t even begin to go there. So let’s get this blog started. Where to begin?
The EndorphinKids™ along with EndorphinGirl™ have recently returned from a most enjoyable trip to their beloved LBI (Long Beach Island). For those who may not know it is their favorite and happy spot on the ‘jersey shore’. They mingled with other family members who were vacationing on the ‘island’ as well, including EndorphinCousin™, EndorphinNanny™ and EndorphinPatti! It was a fun week which included an amazing exertion of endorphin’. Each day included a daily bike ride and swim and most days included a run of some sort. For EndorphinGirl™ it was no more than 2 miles, however the EndorphinKids™ rocked it by running somewhere between 5 to 12 miles at a clip! There was some serious mini triathloning going on in that family on the ‘island’. They also ventured out to do a round trip bike ride of the ‘island’ too - clocking 36 miles – 18 miles each way. This was accomplished on a day that started out cloudy but ended with some sunshine and a very rewarding dip in the ice cold Atlantic Ocean.
The EndorphinFamily™ continues with the runtheedge http://www.runtheedge.com/ challenge. By the end of July they had recorded mileage of 977.43 'stem' related miles (aka running!). They are a little bit behind schedule. However, August started off with some serious mileage clocked (i.e., during the LBI happenings) so they think they will catch up pretty quickly. Hopefully! To date they are almost halfway there. Or otherwise stated, they have completed 49% of the challenge. Just another 1037.57 miles to go exerting the 6 'stems'. Doable between now and the end of the year? Yes, yes, yes, they think so. And EndorphinSon™ has claimed the last 15 miles. He would like to complete that portion of the challenge. So be it, the Endorphins just need to get to the 2000 mile first! THEY WILL DO IT!
To contribute to the mileage, the Endorphins have a family 5K scheduled for Sunday, August 23rd in New York City. An early 8.00 a.m. run, on a summery Sunday. This will be a nice mini contribution to the mileage needed. Additionally, as mentioned some blogs ago, the EndorphinKids™ are in training, one EKid is in training for the Detroit Marathon and the other EKid is in training for the LBI 18 mile challenge. Both of these 'runs' are scheduled for the fall. EndorphinGirl™ informed her bloggees that she would also be doing the LBI 18 mile challenge. She is currently however now in ‘consideration’ mode, but hopes to get over the hurdle again and move to ‘she will do it’ mode. Stay tuned.
Senior year is quickly approaching for the EndorphinKids™. One of the EKids will be a senior in college and the other EKid will be a senior in high school. This is a big year for the Endorphins.
They hope you will stay tuned in for what is to come in their endorphin adventures in the ‘senior’ days ahead.
While this is a soft re-launch to her blogging, EndorphinGirl™ hopes you have enjoyed reading. She will be back with more in the coming weeks.
EndorphinGirl™ however will never ‘blog off’ without a new drawing from one of the EndorphinKids™. This week it is courtesy of EndorphinSon™. While the image is not necessarily related to today's blog, it is related to endorphin'. Enjoy!
Until next time, guest comments always welcome in guestbook and keep on endorphin.
